I am going to give the white gloss paint a freshen up. Can I just rub it down and put the gloss straight on or do I have to undercoat it first. Many thanks!

Give it a wipe down with sugar soap first.
Question Author
Does that mean I don't have to rub it down, just wash with sugar soap.?
Clean as said, lightly rub down and yes put a undercoat on it is a lot more work but it is the undercoat that helps to give you that better finish, and well worth the effort,as with all decorating it the preporation that is important,TIP dont hold your brush horizontal too the surface hold brush at a diagonal position this will help to aviod brush marks, take your time and dont rush just to get finished, this is a common mistake, a rushed job is aways a bad job!! good luck
When refreshing with the same colour I just lightly sand, wash down & use a good quality non-drip gloss. I've only used an undercoat when going to a lighter colour.
However I do nowadays prefer satinwood to gloss which is a more subtle finish & doesn't show the imperfections! :o)

actually nowadays I'd prefer clever trev to come & do it for me ;o)

I wouldn't mind clever trev either. I am good at making tea.
Everything masked off. Got those silly doors like georgian windows. I will get started tomorrow. Thanks!
