1 - B for batchelor + bits of RELIABLE???
2 - does ABLE = "reached up to it"??
3 - ok - KEN (remember Beyond our Ken?) and NAY<<
4 - should be SCREEN or SCREENED dropping N or NED, but they're not "down" or "down gradually". Or SCREED dropping D for down, doesn't make sense.
Am I just having a Monday morning moment?

Thanks a lot, KD,
"Bile" I'd never have thought of for anger (even with the letters in front of me!!!), but fair enough.
"Up to it" = "able" - I'm kicking myself for missing.
No. 4. as you say looks a bit iffy, and the "dropping down gradually" refers to the scree rocks as well as any other cryptic meaning, I guess.
