Where to live?

Hi,

I am planning on buying a small property in the Greater Manchester / Lancashire area. I was hoping for some opinions & advice. I'm looking to buy in a nice village which is near to city / town links & has potential to increase in value. Any tips would be really appreciated.

Ask a large estate agency in the ares. And look at "travel to work" commuting times in the rush-hour; who wants to spend hours in transit, when a bit of planning ahead avoids it? Potential value increase should be the least of your concerns.

Nice village near to Greater Manchester? You are talking about Cheshire and footballer type prices, or Bolton, Wigan, Rochdale etc which all have their problem areas and you would still have a commute.How much have you got to spend?

Always think of potential value, or u will never climb up that ladder. Look out for an expensive area, and then buy just on the outer bit, check for schools too, as families will pay more for a good school which they can walk to.

Have a look at the area of Saddleworth, there are several small villages which make up this area. Very rural with good schooling and good links to Manchester and Oldham, and Huddersfield, Leeds etc

Train from Greenfield to Manchester 25 mins...
train to Oldham 10 Mins
Leeds 30 Mins

Its a fab place with hundreds of pubs... but beware.. it's freezing in Winter... but lovely in Summer.

It's a good alternative to Cheshire... and the expensive prices of property there.
