Do the more experienced solvers have views about which newspaper's cryptic crosswords are generally easier or harder than others? I was taught cryptics on Everyman (Observer) and have won it twice, so always prioritise that. I used to get the Financial Times from work when it had prize Xwords on Saturday and Monday and actually won that 4 times, so it must be easy! I know easiness isn't everything, especially now I have discovered this magnificent source of last resort, AB. What do others think?

I graduated to cryptics with the help of my father and the Daily Telegraph. You get used to the way the regular compilers think and can get thrown when the compilers change. I used to find Tuesdays hardest, but now it is often Fridays that I fail to complete it. I have frequently tried cryptic crosswords in other papers with varying success. Sometimes I cotton on quickly to their way of thinking and rattle through them. Sometimes I struggle to get a start. It is the ones with a theme (eg Guardian) that sometimes throw me. I am beginning to get used to a wider variety of clues answering the cryptic questions posted on this site.
