transfer deeds
i moved house in november after loads of hassle from the buyers side and incompetence from thier solicitor, i have today had a letter from my solicitor asking us to re sign ta transfer deed as thier solicitor has lost the original, i know it wont cost us anything but its the principle, the day before we were due to move we were told that thier solicitor hadnt sent the deeds to ours for ours to send them and get them signed in time for us to complete so we had to go to our solicitor, a journey of over 200 miles away to sign so that we would complete as arranged, just exactly does us not signing mean

As all of the equity has already passed to the purchaser you will hold the property in trust for the purchaser.
In practice you've got nothing to gain by not signing but, if I were you, I would insist on the documentation being brought to you at the purchasers expense.

thanks law student, i already have the deeds as my solicitor posted them to me so having them bring them to me wont work, i am just so annoyed because both the buyer and thier solicitor really dragged thier heels over the purchase , because the buyer said he was paying cash and then decided at the last minute, literally, he was going to get a mortgage which made us take several steps back and more or less start afresh almost losing our purchase in the process, i know its mean but i just feel like holding on to them for several weeks and make them sweat, the letter we received with them asked us for our urgent attention, "bloody cheek" i think they are trying to sell the property.
