Out of Interest did anyone note how many A's were evident in Wednesday's Cryptic? There were 49!

Didn't manage to finish it to notice...just looked at today's answers though and noticed...it's the only vowel used isn't it? Think they do tricks like that sometimes. I know I read on here once that the Monday crossword's first few clues reads out as a saying..I have never found them though..not bright enough I'm afraid!!

Have a look at the first two across solutions for the DT Quickie, Pauline. If there are more than two words, the clues are in italics.

Hi Pauline - The 'Daily Pun' breaks all the rules of spelling and grammar but is good fun to wake up to!

eg Today : (1a) Missed, (4a) Hurry .......MYSTERY!
Yesterday: (1a) Riga, (4a) Mortice ....... RIGOR MORTIS!!
They get worse but always amusing. Monday's puzzle is generally harder than the rest of the week and solving the pun can often open up the top corners.

I've seen that before (in the DT, I think), but can't remember how many.

And once in the Guardian (again, I think) they used a plethora of "U"s, including any "W" spelt out as "UU" !
