Cat in Season

My kitten is almost 6 months old and is due to be neutered in a couple of weeks or so.

The last few days she has been acting really strangely. She is making really funny mewling noises and is getting really excited all the time. She is also lying on the floor and sort of shuffling her body around in a circle.

Is she in season do you think?

ps Im not worried about her getting pregnant as we have always kept her indoors until we have her done.

Could she be older than 6 weeks? I remember my cat acting the same way before she was neutered..we were waiting for her to get to the proper age, but she started making chirruping noises and rubbing her bottom up against things ~ as well as rolling around on the floor rather seductively!

As she had been feral, we didn't know her actual age..just an estimated guess from the Vet. We phoned the Vet to ask his opinion and he told us to bring her down to the surgery immediately for the operation.

lol pippa did you mean months not weeks? She came from next door so her age may be out by a week or so each way.

What you described is just what she is doing. Thanks for that :)

I've been trying to remember how our other cat was but shes nearly 9 and my memory is crappy lol

LOL yes sorry..heh heh I was over on the pregnancy section earlier and that is all in weeks so I got confused! plus I wasn't wearing my glasses...;o)

It certainly sounds like she is in season. Make sure she does stay in..and make sure no Tom cat can get in either...heh heh.

aww she will be kept in :) bless her shes frantic to go play out, cant wait til its done and shes better :D
