I agree and I can't stand the tw@t either! All his scenes are naff!

He reminds me of the milky bar kid except he was a better actor!!

I really wished that Martin threw him on the tracks last night and put us all out of our misery! :)
He's OK, but nothing special.

Mind you, he's not as bad the girl who plays Rebecca. "I ... want ... to ... stay ... with ... granny ... Pauline ... (it says here)."
i dont think you are supposed to like him, thus that would mean he was a good actor. just a thought.
Yea, he needs drop-kicking
I find the plot lines on EE becoming increasingly ludicrous - not helped by choosing an inadequate child actor to play Ben. The fact that he is a child is no reason for not choosing a child who can play the role properly - heaven knows there are enough child actors out there.
curly, i couldnt agree more and as for bad casting!!! who could ever believe that he is the off spring of Mitchell genes!
Saxy_jag, I do know what you're saying, but serisously - you think Rebecca is worse? I can't bear that Ben, it's switch over TV.
He is so unconvincing.
I think they only cast that little girl as Rebecca because she vaguely looks like Sonia and Martin's child might have done in real life.
I can't believe in this day and age and with all the stage/drama schools out there - they pick two child actors who are so wooden they wash with ronseal!!
Just compare 'Ben' and 'Rebecca' with 'Belle' in Emmerdale, now she is a brilliant little actor for one so young.

i agree warpig she is a little cracker, and i bet she's not even trying? strikes me shes like that naturally : ) i mean chesney was cute (not so much now) and even David platt was good before he became a demon lol so it just proves they ARE out there, also no wonder he's got a bleeding hearing aid cos all Phil ever does is whisper!! hehehehe
Your are right about the hearing aid curlyperm. I think 'Belle' has been in Emmerdale from she was born and if not then from very young. I was wathcing it with my parents a few months ago and she did a scene/dialogue with one of the Dingles and we couldnt believe it but it appeared that the scene was taken in one take (this is based on the fact that she was never off screen the whole time) anyway we all turned to each other in amazement, not believine that she managed the whole scene, I would have been hard pushed to do it and I am 39!
It would be interesting to hear your suggested criteria for 'good acting' and the standpoint from which you're giving your opinion.

What do you think acting is?

Who would you consider 'good'?

It always amazes me that people who don't know the first thing about acting consider themselves qualified to judge on stagecraft, film/TV work etc.
i agree, i could just slap him. Why don't they invest in quality child actors like Tom in Hollyoaks, he's ace!!

whoa there quizmonkey, steady on..... anyway how the 'f' do you know i am not qualified to comment??? i could be sylvia young for all you know!! and see the posts in answer to reveal 'decent' child actor and actresses!!, i wasnt bleedin auditioning i was merely expressing an opinion (mine) as to who was good and who was crap!
Why, is he your son or something? anyway he is still a crap actor!! : P
if we, the public couldnt tell the difference betwen a good actor and a bad actor then what would be the point of any actors attending drama schools or learning their trade.I think you do the acting proffession a dis-service saying that.. QM, i bet you have actors you like and dislike, does that make you qualified then??? just wondered, your response to this question was a bit OTT,in my opinion, of course!

cheers julie : ) x
Back to the point, yup he is a bit wooden, along with Rebecca, but he's better than a cutsie ott pain in the posteria type who has been to stage school, now they really do make me want to turn the tv over!
