when downloading a bit torrent program, it asks me for my speed, which i dont know.

i know as much about computers as jade goody does about diplomacy, can someone tell me how to do a speed test?

Every time i try to thru 'official' sites, i get spammed up, and blinded with science.

can anyone help get me up to speed?

Let us know what speeds you get for upload and download (choose the London server).
In case anyones interested I managed 4016 down and 271 up.

God knows how as I rarely manage half that and P2P and BitTorrent are throttled down to even less.

Considering I'm supposed to be on 8meg even the 4 meg sucks.

Bl00dy Karoo.
your connection is 'up to' 8 meg like mine.i am far away fro my exchange so also only average 4megs.
Yes I know precisely what they mean by up to 8 meg.
Still very annoying though.

cooo. 6451 and 383. Can gaurantee my home one won't be as quick though.

mlbt you may be asked for speed in KB/s rather than kbps. If so, simply divide the kbps figure by 8.
ie, mine would be 806 and 48 KB/s
