Formating an animation

I am entering an animation competition in which the film format has to be either minidv, beta-sp or digi-beta (pal) format. VHS tapes and computer files are not accepted. Does anyone know how to get computer files from Director 7 into any of these formats? (I am working on a mac os9 and I also have access to imovie,Flash 4 and Permiere 4.0).

You could borrow someone's MinDV Camera and lay your animation to tape via your Mac's firewire cable connected to the camera.

MiniDV will be the easiest format, provided you know someone with a DV camera which has DV-in (from firewire) enabled. Most consumer-level DV cameras sold within Europe have DV-in disabled - if I remember correctly there's an additional tax on cameras shipping with DV-in enabled. However, many of them can be easily modified to correct this. If that's the case, you'll need to export your animation from Director as a quicktime movie (I've never really used director so I'm only assuming that this is an option) then use Premiere or Imovie to export to tape. If you can't manage to find a DVcam with DV-in, you'll need to export your animation to a Quicktime movie and send it to a service bureau for conversion. This could cost around ~�70+VAT, but it depends on where you go.
