What exactly do you mean. By "Fuid" i think you must mean "fluid". Do you mean the vehicle has an automatic gearbox? Manual gearbox?

Birt Sorry yes miss spell fluid. The model that I was interested in was a manual 6 speed 2004 2.0 ltr Mondeo Ghia X ,but because I was looking at other Mondeo about same age at the time, when this point was made about the starter ring coming loose from the fluid flywheel and subsequent cost of repairs, that created the doubts on the subject, still not sure thanks for any info.Tez

Sorry again Bert Diesel
flywheel is rubber mounted and very expensive to buy genuine part works out best for wear n tear
mondeo 99 onwards same as the focus
These mondeos are fitted with a Dual Mass Flywheel which is basically a sprung flywheel (vibration damper springs) this makes for a smooth drive. They only go if the vehicle is driven badly (pulling away in 2nd etc) otherwise should last for at least 100k. Used to have a 5 speed one with the same setup and had flywheel changed at 150k and cost 120 quid from a local motor factor. This was the same part Ford sell for 250 quid!!!
forget the ford and buy a vauxhall. they give better fuek economy
