Does one lose hair when they have diabetes type 2 and take metformin?

I took metformin for years and it has certainly coincided with my hair thinning out, I now take avandamet which is another variation of metformin but dont know if its just coincidence

My hair was thinning prior to type 2 diabetes being diagnosed. I have been taking metformin for over a year now and my hair is much worse.
