Any scams flying around.

I just got a ticket through the post.

Its 3 months after the event and it took this long becuase its a company vehicle so the tickets go through several hands before getting to me.

I once managed to avoid a fine/points because it took over 6 months for the ticket to finally reach me. I have tried to stall as much as possible (claiming that it did not arrive etc) but looks like I'll have to swallow my first points.

I drive 30,000 miles per year so I guess it was inevitable.

Anyway thats my scam, any others would be good to share.

I have a fantastic scam to avoid speeding points. What I do is when the speed limit says, for example, 50 I use this gadget in my vehicle that tells me how fast I'm going and then what I do is adjust my right foot so that the gadget does not go above the number 50. This gadget is called a speedometer and is avaliable in most good vehicles.
So galaxy, you've never, ever in your entire driving life gone above a speed limit on a road? Not even once, by mistake?

I don't think anyone would believe you if you answer no.
I have been driving for over 40 years without once incurring any fine or penalty, not even a parking ticket.

It can be done.
Of course I have broken the speed limit. It was a sarcastic answer. I have 6 points on my license. Had 9 until a few weeks ago. I keep getting caught doing just over the local threshold which is 10% + 2. Last one was 59 in a 50. On a dual carraigeway going OUT of town. It really annoys me. I was so worried at one point that I have even got my driving licence insured.
as a fleet manager, you statement and question angers me Compostella. If one omy drivers asked me that I would have them disciplined. I hope you ge the freeking book thrown at ya!
there is a time limit within which they have to get in touch with you. i have 6 (have had more) points for speeding (81 on the motorway) and i do think that they should have better things to do than pulling someone for doing 81 on a clear motorway at midday when there are no other cars around....anyway there are websites that you can check out for help and assistance on this

Spaced

When i want advice from a stuck in a rut, self rightous, whiter than white middle manager who hasn't quite got where he wants to be in life, I'll ask for it.

I was seeking to share information, not be judged.

I bet when you drive home that you are the one hogging the middle lane oblivious to others and unaware of doing anything wrong just because you are under the speed limit.

Go back to recording mileages, hiring vehicles, and whatever else you do to fill your day and justify your role.

When you were at school, did you dream of being a "fleet manager"? ......... Thought not.

Sorry everyone else if this offends.
Compo you are an idiot. You got caught so pay up. Yes, almost everyone speeds at some time or another but if you get caught you pay. What's the problem?

Likewise.

Read the question.

At what point do I ask to be judged?

Yep, thats right I DIDN'T

Oh I'll pay alright, I never mentioned that I wouldn't. I wanted to use this fabulous resource to share tips.

Go back to passing judgement on other people. Bet you are a laugh at the dinner table!

When was the last time someone invited you over for a few drinks?

Yawn
Compo you certainly did ask to be judged. You admitted that you speed but then asked how to (illegally) avoid the fine/points.

Ig you son't like my answers or the one by spaced then ask for then to be deleted.
This used to work many years ago.. not sure now tho

Dear Sirs,
I acknowledge receipt of your letter dated.in which you allege that I have committed a speeding offence. That letter does not provide, or offer to provide, any evidence that I have indeed committed such an offence.
I regard your allegation with the utmost concern as I am being asked to make a very important decision which could very seriously affect my future quality of life.
I shall be grateful therefore if you will advise me where, in law, does it state or allow for evidence against a suspect to be deliberately withheld following, or during, the process of an official demand for the payment of money (in this case a 60.00 fixed penalty (or) 95.00 for a 'Speed Awareness Course'.
Further, whereby failure to pay that money on demand will expose the person suspected of that offence to a possible fine of up to 1000.00 (plus costs) at a Magistrates' Court, an amount that is in excess of 16 times (or 11 times) (respectively) the amount of money previously demanded.
This, in my view, could potentially be a criminal offence in itself, the offence of demanding money with menaces. It is also arguably a breach of my human rights in that I am being subjected to unreasonable and possibly unlawful pressure by being placed into a 'pay us now and save yourself harassment later' position.
I am entitled, in law, to all and any evidence that I have committed the offence complained of before I pay any money to you - not just at Court, but as soon as you issue me with a fixed penalty (or offer me a speed awareness course).
I look forward to your response.
Yours faithfully....Compo speed freek

but you didn't hear this from me..:)

Thanks mate, thats what this post is all about

I heard on the news today that 2 people are challenging speeding tickets in the European Court. The defence they are using is that they are not able to use their right to remain silent. This should put the onus on the prosecutor to prove the guilt rather that the suspect to prove their innocence.

GEF

Yaaaaawn

I repeat, read the question.

I didn't ask how to illegally avoid points. Scams are loopholes that exist within the law. Ever heard of tax loopholes? Probably not it far too exciting for you.

When did an admission equate to asking to be judged?

You'll probably pick the bones out f this now but get with the vibe. The line of this thread is about sharing information, not to patronised by some boring self rightous idiot whose only experience of power is to anonymously post condesending viewpoints that were not asked for.

Doing anything tonight?........Thought not.
Compo, I stick to my original point. You got caught so pay up.

By the way, how are my posts anonymous - you can see my name just like everyone elses.

Snoooooore

Three letters don't identify you.

I was right wasn't I? Youre not doing anything tonight.

I was just about to go out but you're making me sleepy.

ha ha - i .like compostella! (you and i could be mates) anyway never had the bottle to try the loopholes myself - let me know how you get on ....what was the outcome of the human rights case?
Question Author
Just in case any of the self rightous ones subscribed to the thread, you'll be disappointed to know that I got away with it.

Because there were enough links in the chain between the registered keeper of the vehicle (my company) and the eventual driver we wre able to stretch it out so it has now gone over 6 months.

Any NIP sent after 6 months is then classed "out of time" and no further action taken.

We have just received our letter confirming this.

If anyone gets a NIP, then you can use this method to avoid the fine/points. I would suggest that if you know enough people who would be in on it, then you can bounce it back to the camera enforcment with a different name on each time (someone who you know) if there are enough then 6 months will elapse and then you're off the hook.
