Adaptor to connect Epson 640 printer to new PC
4 Answers
Hi,
My Epson Stylus Color 640 printer was connected to my old PC via a 25 pin connection, which my new PC doesn't have. PC World tell me there is no adaptor for this type of connecter to USB but I should be able to use a USB lead.
The printer only has the 25 pin connecter so a USB lead is useless. Does anyone know of an adaptor I can use, or do I need another printer. There's nothing wrong with it so I'm loathe to bin it !
Thanks

Yes the Maplins one just replaces the LPT1 cable you have.
It is then the only lead from printer to USB socket.
It is about 1 metre long (USB cables should not be too long as you probably know). Have your PC running (XP) and then plug the USB in.
It should recognise it automaticallyand allocate a USB identity without any fuss as the Driver is present. If you do have to do the Add a Printer thing through Control Panel then select USB not LPT1
