the estate i live on has been and is still under a dispute between the developers and the council about the sites drainage, as such the council have refused to adopt the land.I am selling a car at the moment and as such am not going to bother taxing it as it is not used( i now have a compnay car so dont need it), my question is if a viewer comes to see it amd i breaking any road tax laws if i took him for a test drive on the unadopted roads?

Not a full answer, but I know that vehicles on 'public' roads that are on airport land owned by the airport operator do not need tax. What is more they run on untaxed red diesel.
If the road can be accessed by the public the vehicle must be taxed, insured and MoT'd if it is over three years old.

All airport land is fenced and privately owned.
This question got asked twice, and is being discussed fully under road rules.

The airport roads I was referring to are outside the airport fence, and would appear to you to be a normal road.
I asked your question on this site...........

This is the answer I got from them........

A car does not have to be taxed if it is not being kept or used on a public road which is defined as a road repairable at public expense. This would not include unadopted / private roads.

well i know as a resident on the estate that the council refuse to maintain the road, they wont even grit in winter as they dont own the roads, the roads have not been tarmaced becuase of the dispute between the developers and the council so the concrete road we have at moment is breaking up so i could argue the point that public funds are not being used for maintaining the roads.
