Where can I buy a large tree?

The neighbours at the back of our garden have erected a large balcony above roof height - it looks like Stalag 13! They only got the seaview because we took down some huge lleylandi, but they now completely overlook our garden and house.
I am inclined to put up a large tree - preferably one that is native to Britain. I know that there are nurseries that will supply and plant them, can anyone help?

The first thing that I would be doing is telephoning the local planning department to check if they had got planning permission for this structure.

They have been very crafty. They built an extension up to Building Regs maximum, then they put up this other extension, I think the balcony was supposed to go on the small extension. I have left a message at the Planning Office, but it is Friday afternoon....!!

Any screening will need to be evergreen if you year round privacy. I'm surprised you took down your leylandi as they can take years to reach a reasonable coverage. Obviously speed in achieving even reasonable privacy. Most tree foliage does not reach the ground so as the tree grows more will be exposed.
Personally if it was my problem I would plant some Russian Vine near the boundary. It grows like wildfire. We had some and it had to be cut back regularly because it grew so quick. You will need to attach it to some form of trellis if you want to assume any height.

Above roof height? They would have definitely needed to apply for Planning Permission if ANY part of the extension is above the height of the original roof. One cannot use one's Permitted Development Rights in those circumstances.

Thank you all. I have lodged a complaint with the local council. I am sure it is illegal, even thought it is a bungalow.

I used Russian Vine in our last house as a quick way of covering the fence - we had to keep cutting it down as it went into the garage next door!
