The Paranormal. How to find an Expert (Part 2)
12 Answers
Now I can see that the daughter might have been playing a practical joke, but I'd add that another daughter has stayed in the house for two months with her partner, and they swear that the room contained a pine bed. In fact, the two girls have cleaned the room together and have appeared to have seen a different bed!
The chest of drawers and drawer also seems to move between bedrooms inexplicably. There is also a very strange left to right tilt on the landing after stepping off the staircase for no apparent reason. An apparition of a girl around six years old has also been seen playing in the garden and elsewhere in the house. Incidentally, the daughter who moved into the house, did not disclose any of these phenomena to her sister beforehand and she saw them independantly.
Could I have some guidelines as to who would be interested in investigating this type of thing. There's no entry for "paranormal" in the Yellow Pages!

The daughter has counted these dents daily and hardly ever comes up with the same figure - sometimes there's less, sometimes more than the day before.
Oddly enough, she seemes to take these things in her stride and is not really frightened, intrigued might be a better word.

Thanks redcrx.
The house is in South Wales. I've got no idea where to start looking for a paranormal investigator in the locality.
I did think at one time of perhaps contacting a vicar or priest to see if they know of someone with an interest in this type of thing who could visit the house discreetly and give an opinion.
I don't know who else I could ask.

If you email me at [email protected] I'll send you the numbr of a group of people who look into such things.
It's an interesting point Theland.
I've had a look at quite a few of the websites belonging to these groups since this question was posted.
It seems that almost all of them nowadays have sceptics among their membership (it was news to me), who spend their time looking for scientific or natural explanations of the reported paranormal activities. No doubt this is to avoid the groups being accused of bias towards the paranormal where no paranormal activity may exist.
All the same, it must be difficult when these groups finally issue their report to the client because it seems to me that either there is paranormal activity or there is not paranormal activity ie one side of the group must lose face.
There are many stories of inconclusive results among these groups on the web.

BigBanana,
I'm intrigued!!
I once lived in a house that had strange goings-on. We had a pine bookcase that we had wedged into a alcove and it was literally WEDGED as it was slighlty too big to go in there. To move it, you had to have two people pull at it - well, basically it kept being moved. I wold go out to work at 8am, get home at 5pm and it would have been moved. i lived alone! I would also see a lady in a grey long dress and a grey bonnet coming down my stairs. she would stop at the bottom stair and then disappear. She was never evil and i never sensed any of these cold spots that people talk about - i just sensed warmth and love and a sense of being looked after by her. She only ever freaked me out when she moved the bookcase and hid my car keys BUT whenever i asked her to return them,,,,,guranteed, they'd be back where i left them in 10 mins or so.
I also sense a man with me when i'm feling really lonely and sad. He feels like my grandad, but i cant be 100% sure.
Maybe the daughter could research abit about the history of the house - census, old church records etc Maybe try and find out who lived there previously.
Good luck

I think we do have some very weird goings on and I have heard some rather convincing stories, but they are stories!! or things that have happened in their own minds. Just because you or anyone else cannot find a logical explanation, don't assume that it must be a spirit or a ghost, that is the most illogical!!
bigbanana, be careful what you get into and don't go paying vast amounts of money to anybody, I think most of the genuine ghost hunter types will provide this service free. I hope you find what you are looking for, good luck!!

Hi Bigbanana, I too live in a very old terraced house, and I am 99.999% certain that the dents in the walls that you speak of, are just that. My house is FULL of dents in the walls and apparently it's just how walls were built in those days. I also have sloping floors in several places, they are just features of the house and they give it character. I'm afraid I can't help with any of the other details. Very strange indeed!
