Anyone been recently? We fancy popping in one saturday but wondered what the queues were like now it's free.
Whilst on the subject, any other cheap recommendations for under 10s, over 5s. ?

Not really an answer, but have just seen that there is an exhibition of all of kylie's stage outfits around the corner at th V&A. Although they maybe a bit young for that

The Museum of Childhood at Bethnal Green - it is part of the V & A and has wonderful things to see and things to do - have a look at the website

Science musem rules, but I love that kind of thing.
Went when they had the Titanic exhibition on. You could touch a recovered piece of the hull. It was amazing.

There's always the natural history museum too. That's really good. Think that's free.

Went with the kids around Christmas but during a weekday so I can't vouch for the queues.

They have an exhibition of computer games at the moment where you can play stuff from pong to the latest. You can buy tickets in advance over the web here: http://www.sciencemuseum.org.uk/

The natural history museum is very good, its free and they have an excellent dinosaur exhibit culminating in coming face-to-face with a fully animatronic T-rex. I took my son for his 5th birthday and he loved it!

Isn't it great that these things are now free - yipeee! And now I really want to visit the Bethnal Green one.

Would have to say no regarding Brum's thinktank.
I don't have any kids of my own but have 7 nieces and nephews so regularly borrow them for days out, scientific experimentation and child labour. :)

Anyone in the sheffield area would definitely benefit from Magna near Rotherham. Its an old Electric Arc Steelmaking site that has been renovated and turned into a technology and general stuff musem. There's loads of activities aimed at kids including a real tornado, a huge airship and also a real working Electric Arc furnace. The disply is fascinating and kids love it.
