You need to draw up some rules as regarding payment and get each syndicate member to sign it, then take it from there.
It would be a bit harsh not to just for missing 1 weeks payment.
We do the lottery at work and i would share... i would maybe have to convince the others though : )
If you put a pound on every week, you'll have an aśś like a rhino by Xmas.
No I wouldn't!!!

Would Ladbrokes pay out on a bet if you forgot to place your stake? No of course they wouldn't.

Would a car insurance firm pay out if you missed?

A pools coupon?

Would a doctor still see you if you missed your appointment?

Serves them right for being so forgetful.

i wouldn't feel right not giving them a share, unless they were consistent bad payers, then that would be their own fault, but as a one off, definitely yes, i would give them their share.

its a woman at work she moans every week about puttin a pound in even tho she knows she doesnt have to play
tell her then that if she doesnt want to play then dont and let her know that if she doesnt put in, she wont be entitled to her share. I used to be in a syndicat in the pub and we had some proper rules drawn up, you never know, it could be you, lol and there would be nothing worse than legal stuff ruining your win!
Yes I would ~ if it were a one off.

It would be very mean not to.
If she moans about having to do it then ask her if she wants to play or not. If yes then she stops moaning and pays on time or her entry doesn't go in. If not then she shuts the hell up and saves her pound to save up for a personality.

However, if you win and there isn't any documentation saying otherwise; legally she isn't entitled to a thing.
Morally, in that situation I would take a silent vote (paper, no hands or voices) on what should happen. Everyone agrees to the majority decision.

There are stories in the paper about people who have missed a week because they couldn't be a*sed and the numbers have come up. They got s*d all. As the saying goes, you've got to be in it to win it.
If there is a valid reason then someone else puts the pound in and gets the money back. A frequent occurence of this and she's out. It sounds mean but when a share of 4m is at stake, what would you do?
yes, as i know what it's like not to have a $ in my pocket some days. So if they were a regular and missed a week how could you not still include them in the luck. Maybe that $ was the difference between their child having lunch that day or not.
That's a good point Kaylamay.

If they were generally a regular, willing contributor (particularly if they usually 'made up' any missed payments), I would certainly want to overlook the odd struggle to find a quid. But if missed payments were accompanied by constant complaints and an obvious reluctance to contribute, I don't think I'd feel so charitable!

When all is said and done, the two important factors are 1) that it should be properly discussed with all syndicate members, and 2) consider - is it really worth the potential hassle that might arise from leaving someone out? (Particularly if it's their nature to be troublesome...)
