Raw onion causes stomach ache

Why is that every time I eat raw onion I get a stomach ache almost immediately? What can I do (apart from the obvious, stop eating onions!) to stop it!

Onions are well known to cause excessive amounts of gas in the belly,especially when raw-they kind of ferment in your stomach. If they are not pains associated with wind or tapped wind then maybe you have an allergy. The elimination diet is a possible way forward to help determine any food group allergies you may have, if any.
