Welcome to Title Builder Beta.

This small piece of kit is designed to make building your Quiz, Crossword or Puzzle question more effective. It should make finding your question easier for others and, the easier it is to find, the more likely someone is to answer it!

To build an easy to find question title simply select the paper and quiz, enter the quiz number if relevant and fill in the Publication Date. Once you’re happy click “Build Title” and the information should populate the Title field. Fill in the final required details of your question as you normally would, and click submit.

As this is a Beta we only have a limited number of papers and quizzes listed. If you think your favourite Quiz, Crossword or Puzzle should be listed here don’t hesitate to contact us.

Remember: You do not have to use the title builder - simply enter the title and question as you normally would and click submit!

Leaving aside that all three are detectives, what do Sherlock Holmes, Hercule Poirot and Maigret have in common ?
I know that they are all fictional - but I do not think that is the answer, nor does the fact that every one of them has a "side-kick", helper or companion (Dr. Watson, Capt. Hastings and Lucas, respectively) seem to be the right answer. All single (unmarried), perhaps? Help !!!!!

Was trying a Belgian connection but couldn't find one for Holmes.
Perhaps... all their creators grew to dislike their famous characters , and tried to kill them off, but were ultimately unsuccessful because of public outcry.

I answered - or more properly didn't answer this question as neither could I find anything conclusive - on the last thread re: this - quoted in one of the posts above.

Still can't give any other suggestions I'm afraid but could I ask you to post the answer once you know it as this is still bugging me and my two Sherlock Holmes/ Poirot loving colleagues very much. You will make us all very happy!

Will do - but obviously I depend on the Quiz Organiser marking and returning my entry promptly. It is several PAGES long and I recall that it does not close for entries until next Sunday.
