If you have Sky+ you can not only set it record a program with one press of a button, but you can also select "Series Link" so it records every episode of a series without you having to do anything.

Aww vehelpfulguy, I haven't but hubby has been hinting for ages about getting it and that sounds like a cracking idea as old age is definitely setting in and I might be disowned soon for forgetting to tape things. Thanks so much for taking the time to let me know, I might just ring sky tomorrow and price it, the men in my life will be impressed!
