can you find out someones criminal record?

is this possible? I've checked local paper websites to see if there were any court reports but nothing there. Any super sleuths out there?

The good ole Data protection act.....works only when you least want it to...If you are a good citizen it dont protect you...If you are a law breaker it protects you... Beats me ??
