I just realised to day that I am missing sound on my PC. A few days ago everything was disconnected and new power supply fitted. Having decided that the lack of sound must date back to then, I checked and found the speakers were not connected but having plugged them in and checked connection to PC I still have none although all sliders on control are correct. Can anyone tell me where to look next please
Two things to check, maybe they are plugged into the wrong of the three plugs on the back of the computer. Needs to be in the green one. If it is right , is it possible that the sound is on mute?
Double-click the speaker icon in your system tray and make sure that all sliders are at the top, and there are no ticks in the "mute" checkboxes.
If they are powered speakers, make sure that:
Power supply is connected to mains
Speakers are connected to power supply
Speakers are switched on and volume turned up.
This happened to me quite recently, so you can try what I did, Is your volume icon in media player at full? well move it down a fraction, as when it's at the top it seems to mute sound, it worked for me after a lot of messing about with everything else, hope this might solve your problem, if not, it's probably something else
Thanks again for your help Rojash, Peanut and ermadea. Not quite sure if ermedeas suggestion worked but I am now back with sound. After fiddling with volume controls, going through all stages of 'troubleshooting' without success, disconnected speakers, tried my husbands -OK, then reconnected and working, patience rewarded!!
