onomatopoeia...in music

I'm not sure that that's the right way to say it. I mean..erm

In a song, the singer could be singing about comedy and the composer would make the instruments sound like laughing, I just wondered if this had a name?

Hope you understand what I mean!

from my C in english lit at GCSE (lol) i faintly remember Onomatopoeia to be when a word sounds like what it means
eg BANG!, CRRACK!, THUMP etc
