Norman - yes, in my negative moments I do sometimes think that, but then I remind myself of the famous saying "All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing". I can think of far more evil things in this world than the "Pay As You Drive" proposal, but it will seriously affect the pockets of many people who need a car for their daily lives, yet cannot afford to pay more taxes. The satellite tracking system is also a serious infringement of individual liberty. I genuinely believe we should not lie down and allow the government to trample all over us, like innocent victims lying in the path of Panzer tanks. Democratic governments can only govern with the will of the people who elected them and if enough individuals decide that they do not want their policies, never under estimate the power of the people to make their voices known (if enough of them get off their butts to make their feelings known). Most politicians look no further than the next election and the source and number of their prospective supporters.

If the government realise they may lose one million votes from motorists they may listen.

The only snag is Tony and Cherie who have spent the last few years lining their own pockets at the tax payers expense and are now on their way out , will not give a f**k.
