My MOT is due to expire on 4th March, but I will be on holiday until 6th March.

My car also needs a full service and I wanted to get them done at the same time.

I know you can get an MOT done up to a month before it's due and it still stands for 12 months, but I haven't got the money to pay for it all until 1st March.

Does anyone know if there is a specified amount of time you can allow your MOT to lapse before you MUST get it done?

Thank you!

You get no days of grace with the mot,
If it expires on the 4th then that is the latest date you can get it retested.

However if you take the car off the road you are allowed to take the car for a prearranged test and bring it back home
Pay on a credit card?
you are not allowed 1 minute, without a mot,the only time you can use your car without one is if you are driving to the garage to a pre booked test, and officially your car is not even allowed on the road without one, book your car in at the garage for the service and mot, drop it off the day before your holiday and pick it up on the 6th march.a lot of garages will look after it for a week or so,you can only but try.
why not get it done before you go away. think your allowed to get it done up to two weeks before it expires.
