my house was bulit in 2002 and i moved here in november 2006 i have 2 en suites and neither showers work, i had a plumber call and tell me that the pump isnt on it and also the minimum height has not been adhered to,nhbc say they only cover things like that for 2 years and so do the builders, where do i stand, it isnt as tho it stopped working it hasnt been working since i moved here

The NHBC advisor is correct in saying that your showers are out of guarantee. Any faults in a new home must be reported within 2 years of the owners taking possession.

In order for a shower to operate reasonably , the cold water tank must be at least 3 feet above the shower head. The higher the better. It will operate at 2 feet but the flow of water would be restricted.
The cheapest way to overcome this problem would be to either raise the cold water tank in the loft, or to install a secondary tank for the showers only.

It may not be the answer that you wanted but it is fact.
Please accept it and start afresh, I can understand your grievance, and sympathise with you. When you bought your home did you have it surveyed by a private surveyor? I f you did then he should have picked up on this fault, and he or his firm could be sued for negligence.

Depending on what type of survey you paid for, I am certain that they should have checked your shower.
A typical building societies survey would not cover the shower, however a private survey should have covered everything, water, gas, electrical etc. and any faults should have been on the surveyers report.
If you find that you have paid for a full survey and the faulty shower wasn't reported then the company responsible for the survey would at the least have to repair your faulty shower.
