Try googling it - there is a Restless Legs organisation for one. I was listening to a radio programme yesterday and when they mentioned the syndrome they had more texts and emails that they had ever had before. Good luck.
My father is a long term sufferer of restless legs syndrome and i have developed it also in the last couple of years. There is some homeopathic remedies available from boots own range for the condition but i remember reading that there are 3 different types-some legs become restless as trying to sleep with tingling or burning sensation in calves. Other type causes you to wake with immense desire to continue moving feet/legs and the last one is mild twitching of the legs/feet, again with the desire to move them. Caffeine and alcohol are supposed to be contributing factors, as is over tiredness. Your gp may be able to help with medication also, but i found that finding what triggers it not that tricky and standing in cool water or keep feet out of bed covers helps alot.
Thanks for that,i`ve put mine down to overtiredness as i don`t drink and my caffeine intake is minimal(i drink de-caff tea from lunchtime onwards),it doesn`t happen always but when it does i have to get out of bed and walk round the bedroom, that seems to stop it,it can be annoying though!
i know how annoying it is- I have on many occasions 'jokingly' asked my partner 2 chop my legs off. Never thought it poss to get so agitated with a part of one's own body!! can laugh a bit about it now but not so much at 3 in the morn after a long day!! good luck and hope ya find the extra sleep beneficial.
