following on from a programme on TV last night... is it really possible for twins to have different fathers?!
The programme implied that fraternal (non-identical) twins are produced by two separate sperms reaching two separate eggs and that the sperm could therefore come from two separate ejaculations. I think I heard them then say that 1 in 400 sets of fraternal twins have different fathers.. can this really be true or did I hear wrong?
I used to babysit a pair of fraternal twins who very much had the same parents. She resembled her black mum, with the same eyes, skin and hair, and he was blue eyed, white skinned and brown/blonde.
