Extremely painfully! (Involuntary) anal insertion of a red hot poker, possibly symbolic of the fact he was a homo sexual.
Yup, done in Berkely Castle in Gloucestershire. And it wasnt that symbolic: they had already tried several methods of killing him, and needed one that wouldnt leave any obvious wounds.
Ah - finally I know the origin of the phase "better than a red hot poker up the ..."!
