How do I look after an aloe vera plant?

I can have recently bought an aloe vera plant but am not entirely sure how to look it? Can anyone help?

They are actually one of the easiest plants to look after, if you bear in mind that they are succulents so a large part of them is moisture, they need to be kept watered, although I tend to let the compost dry a bit before watering again, what I do is stand the pot in water halfway up the outside of the pot and leave for a while before taking it out again, but ordinary watering from the top does just as well.

I started with the tiniest sapling thing if an aloe vera and now from that one tiny thing I have about 15 huge plants which just keep sprouting baby ones!
I plant mine in the compost which is specifically designed for cactus/succulents, I give them just a small amount of water once a week and then every month I stand them in a tray of deep water for about 2 hours.
I have them on a south facing window sill.
They're pretty easy to keep alive so good luck but you won't need it : )

Do you know, I am well known for killing off plants?
A friend gave me one of these things because I'm prone to cutting myself and despite ignoring it completely it continues to thrive and keeps reproducing - even though I keep lopping bits off!
I just give it a watering when I think about it (which isn't very often) and it sits on a sunny windowsill in the kitchen.
Do let me know if you manage to annihilate it because I'm damned if I can!
