I am trying to buy a new dvd recorder but am having difficulty choosing the right one.
Ideally I would like a combined vcr/dvd recorder so I can copy my vhs tapes onto dvd.
I am willing to spend 200 and have heard Panasonic are one of the best manufacturers.
I would like to know if there are any models that ab'ers can recommend.
Thanks for any help.

For what it is worth, this is just my opinion.
Might I suggest that you consider a DVD/Hard Disk Recorder. You are going backwards if you purchase a combined DVD/VHS recorder.
You can pick up a VHS recorder anywhere now for around 5. There are so many on the market that people are giving them away. The "auction site" is full of them.
The new hard disk recorders have an integrated freeview box and are so easy to use. Couple up a VHS recorder and you can copy your films direct on to the hard disk or DVD's.
Regards

Starrs, double-check those reviews and the model - I've seen lots of problems with some Liteon models.
I use an LG DVD recorder with Hard Disk - excellent.
A DVD/VHS is convenient (even better if with HD) but as said earlier, VHS machines are cheap (you've probably already got a good one?).
This is a good site for reviews:-
