Don't forget - if an employer advertises a vacancy on a job website or in a newspaper, it is only possible at a fee. I have discovered on my job search recently that it is best to contact the companies direct. You'll come across vacancies that nobody else has any idea about!

Do your research and find out about catering companies in your local area. Send out your CV to every company, along with an impressive covering letter, explaining your situation and why you want to work in this particular industry.

You may be taken on as an apprentice, meaning you'll work for considerably less than the minimum wage, but this shouldn't be an issue if you are so keen. And once you have completed your training, a tasty (excuse the pun) salary will come your way.

You've got nothing to lose though, apart from the cost of a few postage stamps!
