I have an Economy 7 electricity meter that was already installed when I moved in. I think I'd like to swap to just a normal meter as I don't think I'm particularly saving money with Economy 7. Does anyone know how easy this is to do? Can my current meter be converted to a normal, non economy 7 meter?

When we moved in to our house we had a pay as you go electricity meter where you put cards in. A few months ago we decided to have a normal one put in, so I would imagine it would be very similar to changing an Economy 7. Basically Powergen sent someone out to fit a new meter and it took less than half an hour just to remove old one and put new one in place.
It is very easy - you already have a 'normal' meter, so the econo my 7 will simply be disconnected.

As Ethel says, you don't need to change your meter, all units used and counted will be charged at the same rate, rather than being split into day and nightime. You would only need to a new meter if you wanted to change from normal to economy 7.
When I changed with N power they insisted on changing the meter regardless. It struck me as a total waste of time and money but it didn't cost me anything. All they needed to do when reading the meter was to add the day and night units used together but apparently this was not possible. Just phone them up and tell them that you want to change
