Confused by user names

I have only one identity on here, but am very confused by the obvious fact that some people are on here with several. Can someone please spill the beans about who is who?

To be honest Dot , it was pure chance that I noticed that post. I am learning to drive just now so decided to have a nosey in motoring and as I said on the other thread , it was the fishwife reference which caught my eye and made me smell a rat. I didn't think you would refer to yourself like that but I must admit , I had my doubts when they answered saying that you had to keep changing your name. I didn't know what your other IDs were but remembered seeing you post under similar names and thought that maybe you were just messing about in this post and had perhaps been temp. banned due to overposting. It seemed like a reasonable explanation until the real you showed up ! I don't know why you seem to be the target for imposters all the time , it really is odd.

In answer to your question PB , I have only ever been the same name in the few years i've been on AB. I don't see the need for constant name changing personally although I know of a few who have changed names because they were getting a rough time on here and wanted a fresh start. There seems to be certain ABers who have various IDs just to wind up others , either in malice or in jest. Then there are those who keep 'backup IDs' in case they get banned.

Only ever had this one name since i joined in June '05.

I tell you what confuses me about the multiple usernames people have, and that is that every sod else seems to know who they were beforehand except me! :-(

And i've never really got why some folks change usernames to 'start afresh' on here. Why do they start us off with guessing names by telling us they were a previous user? It just doesn't make sense.

Good point B00 and spot on ! There is no point at all in joining up with a brand new name to make a brand new start, you'd always be itching to say "I'm not really pigsarse you know, I'm actually whiffey with a new name !" just so people could continue to love you.

Thankfully I have only been on the receiving end of a few nasty comments so that's not too bad in a few years. I just let any nastiness wash over me and never rise to it , so I personally wouldn't change my name but I can see how some people might , if every time they log in they constantly get bombarded with barbed comments. It must get tiresome and make logging in a misery. I don't know who is who either Boo , unless they tell me so I feel like the last to know too. I have my suspicions about some people though due to a similar style of posting or throwaway comments they make. I just don't understand why some people go to great lengths to change their ID because they felt intimidated , only to come back and more or less say "I was being bullied and was run off this site. Here I am now , guess who I was before" , only to end up telling you anyway. What was the point of the name change then ?
