does anyone know natwest's and/or Lloyds tsb's policies on repaying bank charges? I want to try and claim them back but have been told that i may need to open a new account with a different bank as some banks, once they have paid out, will close your account with them.I have read previously posted questions and answers on this subject but would just like to know if anyone knows or has heard of natwest or lloyds closing accounts.thanks

Hi, I claimed an amount of 475 back from Lloyds TSB recently. I had to go through pretty much every stage: 1st request letter; letter to advise of intended action, and court proceedings. They sent a defence to my claim, and I was given a court date, but the Lloyds TSB solicitors offered to settle out of court for the amount of the claim plus court costs. They didn't close my account though - they repaid the money into my current account almost immediately.
However, I did have another current account available, and I'd recommend opening an account elsewhere - just in case.
Good luck!

I reclaimed all my charges from the Halifax (and mine were just over 2000). I didnt have my account closed and I am still using it now.

I too had to follow the procedure set down in by the Consumer Action Group and mine went as far as issuing a court summons.

I think it seems to be Nationwide and Alliance & Lester who are closing accounts.
