What is the worst position to be in?
The person that trusts someone implicitly and therefore because your partner knows that you trust them, they cheat on you without you knowing. So in other words you trust someone but they are secretly cheating on you.
or
Not trusting someone at all because they have let you down in the past but all the time since then they are being faithful but you dont know it.

Neither are a good situation to be in. Lack of trust can kill a relationship in the end. But it's a long drawn out process.
At least with the 1st option if you don't know about them cheating then it's not going to hurt you is it? But if you find out then you'd probably still be in the shock stage while the whole break up went on! I think it's easier to get over somebody who has cheated on you, because it makes you stronger in the end knowing that they're scum and you were far too good for the likes of them!

Yes its a state of mind isnt it. Not sure whether its better to be happy in ignorant bliss or whether to be in turmoil through not trusting someone.
So many people cheat on their partners and their partner never finds out so is that partner better off being happy and not knowing.
Most of my partner's friends cheat on their wives on a regular basis, they are good at lying and the wives havent got a clue that this has been going on for years.
Trust is such an odd thing, I guess whether you trust someone or not, if they are going to do something wrong, they will.

If you didn't know, 4getmenot, then how could that possibly make you a mug? Of course, if/when you do find out that your partner is cheating on you then you may well find that certain people come out of the woodwork telling you how they knew all along. Only then will you feel a mug.
Ignorance IS bliss, but it's not always a good thing, as exemplified here.
I just couldn't imagine being in either situation in reality. I'm far too inquisitive and nosey at the best of times so my partner would find it hard to cheat without me finding out in no time. My last relationship being a perfect example! I'm also a jealous person, but I would hate that to negatively impact my partner as I know that is my issue and not his. So I tend not to let any jealousy or trust issues affect me or him.
