High charges during Summer holidays.

Does anyone think it is complete madness that Tour Operators should put thier prices up so high during the Children's Summer Holidays? Are there any fair Tour Operators that charge a reasonable amount of money to holiday in July/August in the UK?

It is simple supply and demand. This is when demand is at its highest and tour operators can charge high premiums.

If a company did undercut the others, they would sell out very quickly - then potential customers would be complaining!

Perversely, it seems far more expensive to holiday in the UK than take a cheap package abroad. Very sad.

Thank you for replying Ethel, it is very sad. I guess I am quite annoyed because if I wanted to book a decent holiday in the UK during summer holidays I have to pay so much more than if I went in late June early July. I am tempted to take my children out of school just so we can afford a family holiday.

Please don't take them during term time. As a couple without children, we are glad that it is cheaper when we go on holiday, but mostly that we don't have to tolerate hordes of badly behaved British children making our hard earned rest so stressful. I do feel sorry for parents of well behaved children who have to pay extra, but hey, that's one of the many sacrifices you nust be prepared to make when you decide to have children. We decided to forego the "joys of parenthood" because we preferred life without children - I assume you made a different decision and you live with the consequences!!
