Is it the law to have Markings on a Lorry Tailgate?

I recently had a collision with a lorry while driving to college. This lorry was stationary and the sun was shining brightly therefore I only saw this lorry at last minute. I swerved to miss this lorry, thinking that I missed it I was shocked when the side of my door caved in. This was especially worse as the lorry was parked on a bend of a main road with it's tailgates down. The reason I hit this lorry is because the tailgate had no markings therefore would have been very hard to see anyway. I wondered if it was a law to actually have markings on the tailgate of a lorry?

Many thanks in advance :]
I would really appreciate it if you know :]

If you can't see a hulking great lorry, would tailgate markings have made any difference?!

Thank God it wasn't a child, they don't come with any warning markings, you know, bright sunshine or no bright sunshine....a little more care and attention, perhaps?

I was asking if it was a law not for your opinion, If you have to say something nasty then don't bother answering please. 1. yes it would of helped and 2. I was paying attention!!!
I don't think you have actually realised how shook up I am about this and the fact that your posting has actually made me cry. I don't need people answering if the answer is some stuck up opinion! I wonder if you would be the same if it was you who it happened to and if you would still be up on that high horse of yours.
In future please don't post your views on my questions as they are seriously not welcome.
This posting is aimed at xanderma who has no feelings and as it looks just likes to put people down.
Many Thanks
Says it all, really! Just hope you're never driving anywhere near my children - but then, from my high horse vantage point, at least I'll see you coming!

Well it is just good that you more than likely don't live near me but at the end of the day why do you have to come on here to slag off a 17 year old girl?
To be quite honest I don't value your opinion anyway as I have been very shook up by my accident. I came on here to try and find out whether it is the law or not. I apoligise if it has disgusted you that much, I wish it had not of happened and I actually am a good driver but due to the lorry being parked on a bend it did not allow me to swerve in time. If your children run into the road like the lorry was in the road then I think you should pay alot more care and attention to your children rather than spending our time on here looking for arguements.
I don't think the markings would make a difference, and as the vehicle was stationary I believe the law states that you would be held 100% responsible for the collision, even if it was parked incorrectly.

I know you must be shaken up by what happened but you have to accept people's opinions. If you were involved in a driving incident and ended up in court I'm sure you wouldn't tell the magistrates to get off their high horse when they delivered the verdict! I don't think xanderma was slagging you off, and I'm not sure what the relevance of your age is. If you are old enough to drive and crash you are old enough to take people's opinions on it.

The fact that you hit a stationary vehicle does imply that you weren't paying attention or you were driving too fast for the conditions i.e. the sun in your eyes.

Learn from your mistake and just pay a little more attention in future.

I was doing 30 and when the sun hit me I slowed down to 15. I do pay attention and I have taken 100% responsibility. I only came on to get an answer and to be honest I have really been put off because it wasn't me who wanted to know. I really am careful and I really am getting upset to come on and be told I basically rubbish.
Please can people stop answering now because I am rapidly being put off. I value your opinion hugnie21 and thank you.
