washing machine tripping electric

My washing machine keeps tripping the electric and the lead from the motor looks a little black .... any suggestions please>?

I can only think of one, "don't use the machine until it has been checked out by a qualified person". Don't be a wally and endanger your life needlesly.

I would unplug it & either get a repair man in or buy a new one!

Get it checked as a 1/3 of an amp can kill you.I take it the machine in question is on a ring circuit and this is normally 32 amps.For the fuse to operate within the proper disconnection time the tripping current is a lot lot higher than 32 amps.

If you're sure it's the washing machine, then you'll have to get it fixed or get a new one - no other solution. To clear up a few points made by others. As little as 30 milliamps can kill. This is not a case of the fuse blowing. If the trip is tripping then it's an earth fault and the trip should pick it up before the current gets anywhere near melting point (of the fuse).
