Why are Cats ALWAYS hungry
7 Answers
I feed my little furrballs only the best of food. So why is one of them trying to get up on my lap screaming that he is starving? His sister is sitting looking at her empty bowl.
I have only had these two three weeks, but my last cat was just the same. If I turned over in bed he would be up and looking to see if I was planning to feed him.
And they just sound so pitiful and pathetic.

Cats bodies dont store protein like ours do, they need to constant source. The only time my cats bother me for food is when it is breakfast time and they want the wet food or i'm sitting down for my dinner at which time you would think they had never been fed before. Apart from that they never bother me with "i'm hungry" meows. Try keeping dry down all day. If they are kittens, especially under 12 months then they do need to be fed several,k if not 3-4 times a day. Kittens burn off alot of energy and need to replace that protein often.
Ahh bless!!
Isn't it difficult to ignore the cries, especially when they are young and particularly cute. Unfortunately I have well spoilt my two over the years and now they are so used to the best food, it is difficult to get them to eat ordinary cat food. And they quickly get to know which is the softie in the house as I am sure you already know! They never try it on with my partner as he ignores the demands, but just try it on with me!!

My 3 cheeky babies eat an enormous amount of dried food during the day and 2 fresh meals morning and night. Cats seem to prefer having dried food down all the time so they can have a little bit every hour or when they feel like it, and it doesn't go off in a few hours like the wet food particularly in summer. I know with out the dried stuff down mine cry all the time for more food!
Also have you wormed them as this can make a difference

Thanks all.....I am not used to a 'multi cat household' and getting used to all the bickering etc is driving me nuts.
They are 18 months old, so past the worse bit of being a kitten, but still fun to watch.
They have dried food out all the time - a mixture of Iams and some of the other premium foods, all low calorie or for hairballs. This is their main diet.
They are supposed to get a sachet between them morning and night, just to supplement their main food. But they are always looking for more.
They are lovely cats and even after such a short time I feel so attached to them.
