what a co-incidence! their store at Stechford (Birmingham) was badly damaged by a stockroom fire in January.
.... not in trouble are they?

Apparently, it wiped out the entire contents of their stockroom. The damage is estimated to be nearly �20.

No idea of how true this is, but a local told me that Matalan were about 2 weeks or so of closing the store for refurbishment, The staff employed were given the choice of unpaid leave or working in a store 50 miles away.

Not wishing to libel anyone but we were speculating on either (a) an insurance job or (b) disgruntled worker.

hello i work at the matalan store in strood and i just thought i would let you all know that no body was hurt and it was indeed an electrical fault that started in the stock room that wiped out the whole of the store. the staff are being transfered to other stores or taking it as unpaid leave for as long as they wish

So you worked in Matalan Strood? I know this is the wrong forum for this question but... there was a REALLY fit guy who worked in there who I always had a massive crush on! He often worked on Customer Services at weekends. Was kinda 'chunky' and I'm sure had blonde bits in his hair. Where's he now? Need to check him out wherever he's working!

hi iam a manager at matalan strood its 95% chance it was electrical there will be no smoke damaged sale it was not a insurance job as for c_953 how long ago did u see this lad i think it was ben but not sure have u got any more info on him any way any questions do post and me and kel1ie will try and answer
