electric cooker is tripping off my electrical supply

my electric cooker is tripping off my mains electrics supply. Is there naything I should look for?

Check your fuses you might need to upgrade to a 45A and maybe check the earth connections on the cooker, an out of balance current cause tripping. If in doubt call an Electricain.

but before changing the fuse (if that in fact turns out to be necessary) check if the power lines are good for it. fuses are usually there for a reason.

Usually when the mains supply "trips" it is caused by an earth fault - ie something has a leakage of electricity to earth. It is probably one of the elements - either hotplate, grill or oven. The way to track it down is to try switching on each of the hotplates, grill and oven in turn to see which one causes the supply to trip. The earth leakage trip fitted to some mains supplies will trip at just 30 milliamps of earth current, so it does not take much of a fault to cause it to trip.

There's an earth fault with the cooker. Don't bother looking at the fuses as there's no point. The trip trips only because of earth leakage. It could be something as simple as moisture has got into the cooker and it will clear up when it has dried. Try hertz's suggestion for finding where on the cooker the fault lies. If it trips when nothing on the cooker is switched on then the fault may be a bit more difficult to locate, though it will still be a cooker problem. It has nothing to do with the size of fuse.
