Not necessarily true that the airbag wont work - the light just warns that there is fault on the circuit. It maybe just a loose connection under the seat. There are pretensioners linked to the airbag system and sometimes hoovering under the seat and feet and other objects can make them loose.
I would recommend looking in your manual and checking in there. Has it come on out of the blue or after a slight knock ? How old is the car ? I would take Normans advice and get it checked out by a dealer.
Whether the airbag will or will not go off is a matter of opinion and no-one would know unless you had an accident. The light being on denotes a fault in the system, what exactly that fault is cannot be diagnosed without seeing the car, plugging it in and analysing the information - that is the advice from a Daewoo Technician.
The advice, in my last post - which is the main thing, to get it checked at the dealers - was not contradicted.
thanks both of you, stop arguing!!!
It was only a general question about a car that we were looking to buy, but are not bothering now as we think that it could be trouble.
if you are thinking about buying it from a dealer then get them to sort it out properly and ask to c proof of it was done and is workin correctly, and not just the bulb taking out which eva way working or not it needs to be sorted by the approved dealer who can sort it out
