Network Rail have been awarded planning permission to build a huge concrete and steel railway viaduct through the centre of this beautiful conservation area and the market. This is not about being a poncy middle class foodie, this is about saving our heritage. This area of London has been immortalised in Dickens and is a huge attraction for tourists and locals.
btw - if you take a look at the photo's of where the viaduct will go - take a closer look at The Globe p.h. - Bridget Jones fan's will recognise it as the place where her flat was/fight between Colin Firth & wot'shisname took place. What an awful shame - sign the petition if you can : )
Nooooo....not dear old Borough Market ..although I don't live in London now we were always up there to get the lovely bread from De Gustibus and our bits and pieces from the German Deli...great shame if this is allowed to happen ....have signed for you .
Borough market has a lovely old world feel about it. There aren't many areas in London that give you a sense of the past without charging an individual an arm and a leg just to be there. Leave it be!!!
