Try one of those cheapie throw away ones first. Some people just can't get on with them and they can take some getting used to. Oral B make some good ones - I'd probably buy one of those again (I used one for a few years before getting a Phillips Sonicare). Personally, I wouldn't buy a Sonicare again. They do a good job (but even after several years of using an Oral B it took me a couple of weeks to get used to it - it goes mad!) but they're quite expensive (around 70) and the replacement heads are really expensive - at Boots, the model I use is 25 for two. That works out quite expensive if you like to change the brush more than twice a year.

But I definitely wouldn't go back to a 'manual' toothbrush - electric is by far the best, in my opinion : )
Hey is have to agree with makemesmile, I have only ever had the oralb 7000 one which i am very happy with! They are strange to get used to at first but after a couple of days i couldnt go back to a manual toothbrush it just doesnt feel very clean compared to the electric one!
I have a colgate one and all it does is vibrate.
the bristles on the toothbrush do not rotate at all.
A bit of a con.
I was recommended by mt dentist to get one, not a top range, but a good one, I had receding and bleeding gums, including a couple of loose teeth.
and she told me how to use it, because that makes all the difference.
Brush not only the front and back, but the tops of the teeth, and actually on the gums also. it worked.

I bought a Braun, cast about 45.00, excellent brush.
i just bought a new battery operated toothbrush...its Oral B Pulsar for 5.99...pretty good!!
