mot failure or not
if the rear window of a hatchback car has a smashed window. needs replacing due to vandalism would that be a mot failure in its own right.

This is the reason why you can have a car with very dark tints pass an MOT, yet still be nicked for having them- a traffic cop may be of the opinion that you can't see properly through them, but as they arn't tested they can't fail.
Just remove any shards of glass before test, and have a read-

norm i thought you were right but as mr rusty said its only the front screen that matters and that was the reason i was asking because i had heard that from other people and i wasnt certain of what was right or wrong an example i was given was a open backed jeep say has only got a windscreen so it cant fail an mot if it has no other windows in it.
