A puppet show maybe 70's early 80s???

I am going nuts trying to remember the name of this show....

The puppets were small and naughty, blowing things up and giggling with high pitched squeaky voices.

There was a guy with them that used to talk to them and try and keep them calm.

It used to be on early evening, Saturdays I think. I have fond memories of watching it with my dad :-)

It wasn't Ken Dodd and The Diddy Men.

Any ideas? sorry the descriptions not brill.....
