Leaking pond

My son in law's pond has developed a leak in the butyl liner about 6" from the top. The water always sinks to this level. We cannot locate the hole. Is there any way of finding it?

No easy way. It will be at the level to which the water recedes, so my thought would be using the "push and poke" method all around at that level. It's a lot of hands and knees time, but worked for me once.

Firstly, make sure that the folds of liner.....the excess bits that were tucked behind the liner, haven't fallen to below water surface around the back.

That's exactly what happened to mine !!!

Thanks folks, there are certainly no folds in the liner to account for it so it looks like a wet lying down poking job for someone!! DEFINITELY not me.
